Our Grant Funded Projects

MAP MATS is a tool for elementary classrooms that promotes joyful, meaningful, and play-based learning. The MAP MATS activities are STEM based and enhance existing elementary school curriculum.

Science and Technology Leaders serves 6 North St. Louis County school districts by 1) providing summer programs for elementary (STEM Explorations) and secondary students (Coding Camp); and 2) training teachers through our STEM Education Certificate Program who then become their schools’ “STEM Champions” and lead afterschool STEM Clubs for students at their schools.

STEM Creators provides year-round STEM education to participants at the Jackie Joyner-Kersee Center in East St. Louis. Contact stem@maryville.edu for more

Maryville Center for Access and Achievement received an $85,000 Boeing grant for STEM Sprouts, a partnership between Maryville University and the School for Early Childhood Education in the Ritenour school district. This legacy program was completed in 2017.

This grant instigated new official guidance for Missouri school districts on identifying and serving traditionally underrepresented gifted students. Missouri was influenced by Dr. Coxon and the success of the Maryville Young Scholars Program. Contact stem@maryville.edu for more information. This legacy program was completed in 2018.

Coding Creators helped to create equity in STEM (science, technology, engineering and math) education and career opportunities for underserved students, by providing real-world coding experiences through after-school and summer courses at Boys and Girls Club locations. This legacy program was completed in 2020.
